Read MoreHide Full Article
U.S. telecom behemoth AT&T Inc. (T - Free Report) has unveiled a new video and unlimited wireless offering for AT&T Unlimited Choice customers and AT&T Unlimited Plus customers. The Unlimited wireless offering comes in the form of a contract-free or credit-free system.
AT&T’s unlimited wireless plans allows unlimited usage of data, calling and texting in and between the U.S., Mexico and Canada without worrying about additional roaming charges. Customers can send unlimited texts from the U.S. to over 120 countries and have the option to add a tablet or other devices at an extra cost of $20 per month.
After signing up, AT&T Unlimited Choice customers can also enjoy unlimited talk, text and data, with a maximum speed of 3Mbps and more than 60 DIRECTV NOW channels for $70 a month. Subscribers can enjoy streaming standard definition (about 480p) video on its LTE network. However, AT&T will slow down the data when one completes the allotted 22GB data usage during periods of network congestion.
AT&T Unlimited Plus customers can use their $25 video credit for DIRECTV, DIRECTV NOW or U-verse TV, inclusive of HBO channels and 10GB of high-speed data per line when tethering from a smartphone. An AT&T Unlimited Plus wireless single line starts at $90 per month, after an AutoPay and paperless bill discount.
Bottom Line
Unlimited data plans or unlimited offerings are quite common in the wireless industry. We have seen other U.S. wireless carriers like Sprint Corp. (S - Free Report) , Verizon communications Inc. (VZ - Free Report) and T-Mobile US (TMUS - Free Report) choosing unlimited offerings as a medium to lure customers from their rivals. These unlimited offerings usually come with attractive promotional plans, advertisements and lucrative discounts.
AT&T boasts being the only carrier to offer both unlimited wireless and live entertainment – all from one provider. With this latest offering, the company further claims to help their customers get rid of their plain-old unlimited plans. Customers can stream at least 60 live channels, as well as on-demand, premium channels, popular shows, and enjoy movies too.
We believe AT&T is forging ahead with the next generation of unlimited mobile entertainment. While video streaming makes up more than half of the company’s mobile traffic with 75% growth between 2015 and 2016, video traffic is expected to become a major driver of growth in 2020.
Price Performance and Zacks Rank
Over the past three months, share price of AT&T has declined by 8.41% compared with the Zacks categorized Wireless National industry’s fall of 6.39%.
Will You Make a Fortune on the Shift to Electric Cars?
Here's another stock idea to consider. Much like petroleum 150 years ago, lithium power may soon shake the world, creating millionaires and reshaping geo-politics. Soon electric vehicles (EVs) may be cheaper than gas guzzlers. Some are already reaching 265 miles on a single charge.
With battery prices plummeting and charging stations set to multiply, one company stands out as the #1 stock to buy according to Zacks research. It's not the one you think.See This Ticker Free >>
