Fund Description

The fund was incepted in June 1999 and is managed by Capital Research and Management Company. This fund seeks to provide long-term growth of capital by investing in stocks and bonds with significant exposure to countries that have developing economies and/or markets. The fund invests in securities of issuers based in 'qualified developing countries,' as well as in equity securities of issuers based in the developed world with significant assets or revenues attributable to developing countries. The fund also invests in bonds offering exposure to developing countries. The fund invests in common stocks and other equity-type securities, corporate and government bonds, and cash and equivalents. The fund invests at least 35% of assets in securities of issuers based in qualified developing countries. Dividends are paid in December. Capital gains, if any, are usually distributed in December.
