Fund Description
The fund was incepted in May 1997 and is managed by Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc. The fund seeks to track the performance of a benchmark index that measures the total return of the Schwab Small-Cap Index. To pursue its goal, the fund generally invests at least 80% of its assets in stocks that are included in the index. The fund may also invest in futures contracts and lend its securities to minimize the gap in performance that naturally exists between any index fund and its index. The fund offers dividends and capital gains annually.
