Fund Description
Incepted in October 1991, this fund is managed by Vanguard Group. The objective of this fund is to seek high level of interest income. The fund invests in repurchase agreements, contracts in which a bank or securities dealer sells government securities and agrees to repurchase them on a specific date and at a specific price. The fund also invests in futures and options contracts, which are traditional types of derivatives, when they allow a transaction to be completed at a better price than by purchasing actual bonds. The fund lends its investment securities to qualified institutional investors for the purpose of realizing additional income. The fund declares dividends daily and distributes them on the first business day of each month. The fund distributes capital gains annually in December.
