Fund Description
Vanguard Small Capital Index Fund was incepted in October 1960 and is managed by the Vanguard Group. The objective of this fund is to seek long-term growth of capital. The fund attempts to match the performance of the Russell 2000 Index, an unmanaged index of small-capitalization stocks. The fund holds all 2,000 stocks in the index in the same proportions as those stocks represent in the index. It remains fully invested in all stocks at all times, the fund's management does not speculate on the direction of the index. The fund's performance typically can be expected to fall short of the index return by a small percentage representing operating costs. The fund offers dividends and capital gains in December.
