United Technologies Unit to Install TERPROM on ADF Aircraft

UTC Aerospace Systems, a division of United Technologies Corp. , was recently chosen by Pilatus Aircraft Ltd (Switzerland) – a company which delivers world-class pilot training -- to equip the Australian Defense Force (ADF) PC-21 next generation training aircraft. Per the contract, the company will provide the ADF its terrain referenced navigation (TRN) system, TERPROM. The financial details of the contract have been kept under wraps.
The company’s TERPROM is a verified navigation solution which is currently in use across 14 nations in over 5,000 aircraft across the world. The TRN function offers accurate, drift-free navigation even when the GPS has been disallowed. The system utilizes on-board sensors and a fully loaded digital map. The TERPROM software provides reliable ground collision prevention and obstruction warning without electronic emissions. Overcoming unfavorable situations like poor visibility, a GPS denied environment or operations at low level, this device increases situational awareness, allowing pilots to effectively manage any mission.
The TERPROM software will be installed in all 49 ADF PC-21 aircraft, providing trainee crew with hassle free landing and functioning. UTC Aerospace Systems will also provide Pilatus with its simulator software for the ADF's ground-based training equipment.
The installation process is being carried out at UTC Aerospace Systems' Atlantic Inertial Systems Limited business in Plymouth, U.K.
