Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (HST - Free Report) , the Bethesda, MD-based lodging real estate investment trust (“REIT”) made the announcement that W. Edward Walter will step down from his role as the President and Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) of the company, with effect from Dec 31, 2016. He will be replaced by James F. Risoleo, the Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Investments, West Coast and Europe.
Host Hotels is engaged in the ownership, acquisition, and redevelopment of luxury and upper-upscale hotels in the U.S and abroad. Under the leadership of Walter, the company grew significantly over the years and was able to improve its portfolio. The company also enjoys a robust balance sheet which will aid in future growth.
Risoleo is attached to Host Hotels since 1996. He served in several key positions during his tenure. Presently, he is overseeing the all West Coast investment activities of the company. Given the strong executive team, healthy balance sheet and superior portfolio, it is expected that Risoleo will be able to move the company forward.
