JetBlue Airways Corporation (JBLU - Free Report) announced plans to expand presence in two of the biggest markets it serves -- New York State and Boston. The carrier intends to begin new daily nonstop flights between Syracuse Hancock International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport.
This new year-round service is expected to be operational from Jan 4, next year. Tickets are on sale with one-way introductory fares pegged at $59. JetBlue will operate the new route on an Embraer 190 aircraft, featuring a comfortable two-by-two seating arrangement, more legroom in coach, unlimited branded snacks and soft drinks plus other luxurious facilities for better travel experience.
JetBlue has around 150 daily departures from Boston and Syracuse will be the carrier’s 64th nonstop destination from Logan. The Boston flight will offer customers with more travel options to top destinations.
The route will also boost the carrier’s presence in New York State. The airline currently serves eight airports across New York namely, Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, Newburgh, Rochester, Westchester County, LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Shares of Air France-KLM and Deutsche Lufthansa have soared above 100% in a year, while SkyWest shares have rallied 21% over the same period.
