Revenue: Southwest Airlines reported revenues of $5,271 million missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $5296.6 million. Revenues however increased 2.6% on a year over year basis.
Key Stats to Note: In the reported quarter, Revenue per available seat mile (RASM: a key measure of unit revenue) stood at 13.50 cents, down 0.5% year over year. The metric is expected to rise up to 1.5% year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2017. Unit costs, excluding fuel and oil expense, special items and profit sharing expense, are expected to be flat to up 1.5% in fourth quarter 2017.
