Interpublic's Weber Shandwick Acquires Social Agency That Lot
Read MoreHide Full Article
The Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc. (IPG - Free Report) owned public relations agency, Weber Shandwick, has acquired London-based social creative agency — That Lot — for an undisclosed amount.
That Lot was founded by British comedian and social media expert David Schneider, writer and social content pioneer David Levin and managing director David Beresford in 2014.
Currently, it has a 67-member team of social-first creatives, writers, videographers, designers, project managers and account handlers that serves clients like Channel 4, McCain, B&Q, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG - Free Report) , Johnson & Johnson (JNJ - Free Report) , HSBC Holdings (HSBC - Free Report) , Jamie Oliver and Have I Got News for You.
So far this year, shares of Interpublic have gained 10.4% against the 8% decline of the industry it belongs to.
Boosting Multi-Platform Capabilities
The acquisition brings Weber Shandwick's proficiency in integrated communications, social strategy and data & analytics as well as That Lot's capabilities in social-first, platform-specific content and production under one roof.
In fact, this is a part of Interpublic’s continuous efforts to boost its multi-platform capabilities and expand client base globally. The move follows the acquisition of Brazilian digital marketing and technology specialist, Cappuccino, in May 2018, and the buyouts of New York-based digital shops — Bomoda and Resolute — in 2017 as well as the London-based mobile firm Flipside in 2016.
The transaction is also likely to boost revenues at Interpublic’s Constituency Management Group segment (which includes Weber Shandwick). In the first quarter of 2018, the segment performed well. Net revenues totaled $292.7 million (16% of total net revenues), up 3% year over year.
Zacks has just released a Special Report on the booming investment opportunities of legal marijuana.
Ignited by new referendums and legislation, this industry is expected to blast from an already robust $6.7 billion to $20.2 billion in 2021. Early investors stand to make a killing, but you have to be ready to act and know just where to look.
