United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS - Free Report) recently announced the expansion of its UPS My Choice service to an additional 96 countries and territories with operations introduced in Africa, Asia Pacific and the Indian Subcontinent, the Caribbean as well as Central regions plus South America, Middle East and Oceania apart from Europe. With this extension, UPS will now serve 112 countries in all.
The UPS My Choice service initially began seven years ago, covering only 16 countries and territories. During summer, the service was launched across 48 extra countries and will be spread across 48 more with operations set to begin this month and completion expected by this year-end. Notably, the expansion has come during the peak holiday season.
Customers using the UPS My Choice facility will be alerted on every aspect of the deliveries starting from delivery-window estimate to a notification on the closing of the final delivery. Customers in some cases will also enjoy the privilege of adjusting delivery dates and locations. Thus, shippers will face fewer customer inquiries and chances of delivery misses will be lowered.
This largest ever expansion of the UPS My Choice service is a prudent move by the company as the service crosses the 52 million-member mark globally.
This earnings season, the company will report third-quarter 2018 results on Oct 24. Other players in the broader Transportation sector like Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV - Free Report) , SkyWest, Inc. (SKYW - Free Report) and Kansas City Southern will release the same on Oct 25, Oct 30 and Oct 19, respectively.
