Spirit Airlines, Inc. (SAVE - Free Report) has announced a series of domestic expansion initiatives from Nashville, TN.
This Miramar, FL-based low-cost carrier will introduce year-round daily nonstop flights from Nashville International Airport to Baltimore/Washington, Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans, Las Vegas and Orlando. These operations are set to be launched on Oct 10, 2019.
Additionally, the carrier will launch service to Tampa from Nashville beginning Nov 5. This non-stop service will also operate daily throughout the year.
Spirit’s expansion into the rapidly growing city of Nashville should attract substantial traffic on the routes and in turn, boost its top line.
In the recent past, the carrier took several domestic expansion initiatives. Prior to the latest announcement, the airline declared plans to begin flights to Burbank, Sacramento and Charlotte from Jun 20 onward.
This March, Spirit began a daily nonstop service from Indianapolis to Orlando, FL and Las Vegas, NV. Simultaneously, the carrier announced a couple of flights from the region, set to start this winter. The carrier will initiate nonstop services from Indianapolis to Tampa, FL and Fort Myers, FL, beginning Nov 14. The service will be operational daily. Additionally, Spirit will introduce nonstop flights between Indianapolis and Myrtle Beach, SC, commencing on May 2. This seasonal service will operate thrice a week. Apart from Spirit, fellow airline players like Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV - Free Report) and Gol LinhasAereasInteligentes S.A. recently announced additional services. While Southwest will launch several domestic and international services ahead of the winter holiday season, Gol Linhas plans to further expand into the state of São Paulo with flights to Araçatuba.
Meanwhile, this March, Alaska Air Group’s (ALK - Free Report) subsidiary Alaska Airlines launched a daily nonstop service connecting Seattle-Tacoma International Airport with Columbus International Airport. This forms part of the carrier’s aim to expand operations across the West Coast.
