BioMarin has a collaboration agreement with Sanofi’s subsidiary, Genzyme, for Aldurazyme. Genzyme is BioMarin's sole customer for Aldurazyme and is responsible for marketing and selling Aldurazyme to third parties.
In the first quarter of 2024, management completed a strategic portfolio review of all R&D programs to determine which pipeline programs should be selected and advanced for further development. Based on this review, it has decided to accelerate/prioritize the development of three pipeline candidates, namely BMN 333 (for multiple growth disorders), BMN 349 (for liver disease associated with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency [AATD]) and BMN 351 (for Duchenne muscular dystrophy [DMD]). Management is also evaluating BMN 293, an investigational gene therapy for the treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
BioMarin generated total revenues of $2.4 billion in 2023, up 15% from a year ago.
