The company's operating segments are as follows:
Engineered Materials/EM (44% of 2023 sales): The segment develops, produces and supplies high performance technical polymers for application in automotive and electronics products and in other consumer and industrial applications. The primary products of Advanced Engineered Materials are Polyacetal products and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (GUR).
Acetyl Chain (56%): This segment includes intermediate chemistry, emulsion polymers, ethylene vinyl acetate polymers, redispersible powders and acetate tow businesses, which serves diverse consumer end-use applications including paints, coatings, adhesives, filter products, flexible packaging, thermal laminations, pharmaceuticals, wire and cable and compounds.
Effective Dec 31, 2022, the company restructured its reportable segments to align with recent structural and management reporting changes. The realignment reflects the integration of the former Acetate Tow reportable segment into the Acetyl Chain segment. The change reflects the conclusion of a shift in operating strategy with a focus on integration, collaboration and maximization of value creation.
