Torchmark’s name was changed to Globe Life Inc. effective Aug 8, 2019. It is now listed on the New York Stock Exchange as GL. The name change reflects its commitment to an enterprise-wide brand alignment to enhance sales and recruitment to improve name recognition.
Globe Life is organized into four segments: Life Insurance, Supplemental Health Insurance, Annuities and Investments. In addition, other expenses not included in these segments are reported in "Corporate & Other."
Life Insurance (70.4% of 2023 Total premium) products include traditional and interest sensitive whole life insurance and term life insurance.
Health Insurance (29.6%) products are generally guaranteed renewable and include Medicare Supplement, critical illness, accident and limited-benefit supplemental hospital and surgical coverage. Medicare Supplements are offered to enrollees in the traditional fee-for-service Medicare program. Medicare Supplement plans are standardized by federal regulation and designed to pay deductibles and co-payments not paid by Medicare. Globe Life markets supplemental health insurance products through a number of distribution channels.
Annuities include single-premium and flexible-premium deferred annuities.
Investment segment manages the investment portfolio, debt and cash flow for insurance segments and corporate function.
Globe Life markets its insurance products through a number of distribution channels which consist of the following exclusive agencies: American Income Life Division, Liberty National Division and Family Heritage Division; an independent agency, United American Division; and Direct-to-Consumer Division.
