TELUS provides wireless, wireline, and Internet communications services for voice and data to businesses and consumers.
Since 2000, the company has invested approximately $240 billion to develop the network infrastructure. Going ahead, the company to invest another $40 billion in critical technology to support the roll out of 5G networks.
The company improves its service offerings and delivery platform through both organic and inorganic means. These support its strategy to design, build and deliver customized solutions to clients. In January 2023, the company acquired WillowTree for $1.225 billion. The acquisition will allow TELUS to accelerate its digital transformation and support product development, particularly in the health, agriculture and consumer goods sectors.
In the first quarter of 2021, TELUS made alterations to its reporting categories to better align with operational changes. The company now reports its revenues under two segments — TELUS technology solutions (TTech) and Digitally-led customer experiences – TELUS International (DLCX). Following is a snapshot of the company’s operating segments:
Effective from the third quarter of 2024, TELUS International will be officially rebranded to TELUS Digital Experience to reflect its evolving AI-driven business strategy.
TELUS technology solutions (85.8% of total revenues in second-quarter 2024): This segment comprises of mobile products and services, fixed products and services, health services and agriculture and consumer goods services. In addition, the company has increased broadband internet speeds, expanded its IP TV video-on-demand library and HD content, including 4K TV and 4K HDR capabilities, and enhanced the marketing of data products and bundles which resulted in improved churn rates.
Digitally-led customer experiences – TELUS International (14.2%): This segment is primarily involved in the delivery of best-in-class digital solutions like content management and artificial intelligence on the back of enhanced customer experience.
