Style Scores:

The Style Scores are a complementary set of indicators to use alongside the Zacks Rank. It allows the user to better focus on the stocks that are the best fit for his or her personal trading style.

The scores are based on the trading styles of Value, Growth, and Momentum. There's also a VGM Score ('V' for Value, 'G' for Growth and 'M' for Momentum), which combines the weighted average of the individual style scores into one score.

Value Score A
Growth Score A
Momentum Score A
VGM Score A

Within each Score, stocks are graded into five groups: A, B, C, D and F. As you might remember from your school days, an A, is better than a B; a B is better than a C; a C is better than a D; and a D is better than an F.

As an investor, you want to buy stocks with the highest probability of success. That means you want to buy stocks with a Zacks Rank #1 or #2, Strong Buy or Buy, which also has a Score of an A or a B in your personal trading style.

Industry Rank:

The Zacks Industry Rank assigns a rating to each of the 265 X (Expanded) Industries based on their average Zacks Rank.

An industry with a larger percentage of Zacks Rank #1's and #2's will have a better average Zacks Rank than one with a larger percentage of Zacks Rank #4's and #5's.

The industry with the best average Zacks Rank would be considered the top industry (1 out of 265), which would place it in the top 1% of Zacks Ranked Industries. The industry with the worst average Zacks Rank (265 out of 265) would place in the bottom 1%.

Are There Reasons to Worry About Gold?

Mine production in 2015 saw its first quarterly decline and its slowest annual growth rate since 2008.

Why Gold Stocks Will Add Shine to Your Portfolio

There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the gold mining industry for both the short and the long term.

Gold Gets Back Lustre in Volatile Times: Will It Last?

Rising gold prices bring some relief to the beleaguered gold miners who were riddled with gold prices of the past few years and had to cut down on exploration costs to stay afloat.

Bear of the Day: Southern Copper (SCCO)

This pick might keep going south if recent trends in metal prices and earnings estimates are any guide.

Will These Factors Tarnish the Gold Mining Industry?

Despite inferior durability, copper and palladium-coated copper have made vast inroads into the share of gold in the bonding wire sector, and this trend will continue through the rest of 2015.

Gold Mining Industry Slowed by Headwinds?

Gold miners, grappling with far lower gold prices than in previous years and cost pressures, have not been in a position to invest in developing new projects in recent years.

Gold is produced primarily for accumulation while other precious metal commodities are produced for consumption.

What's Weighing on Gold Mining Stocks?

Gold exploration and mining is a time-consuming and expensive endeavor. Given its scarcity and remote location of deposits, exploration for new gold is difficult.

Gold Industry Stock Outlook - Feb. 2015

Gold started off 2015 with a bang as safe haven buying mainly due to increase in currency volatility, uncertainly over Greece's future in the Eurozone and expected quantitative easing in Europe, and propped up prices.
